Fender has released a special reissue of Kurt Cobain’s Jag-Stang guitar in honor of the recent 30th anniversary of Nirvana’s «Nevermind» album. The guitar is based on the late Cobain’s own custom model, which combines favorite elements from his Fender Jaguar and Mustang guitars. It was created by Kurt in collaboration with the company in 1993. Jag-Stang also implemented Cobain’s sketches and drawings, which could be found in his personal notebooks, for his perfect Fender guitar. Cobain played the Jag-Stang several times on the In Utero tour shortly before his death in April 1994.
«Since I started playing, I’ve always liked certain features of certain guitars, but I could never find the perfect combination of everything I was looking for,» Cobain said in a 1994 interview with Fender Frontline. – Jag-Stang is the closest to the ideal.
The Cobain Jag-Stang, available in both left and right-handed designs in Fiesta Red and Sonic Blue, features an alder body, 7.25-inch rosewood neck, single coil pickups and custom humbuckers in vintage style.
